My two favorite jobs.

I’ve been in product management for the majority of my career and have found it to be an extremely rewarding and fulfilling profession. It uses every part of my brain, every skill I’ve developed, and pushes me to learn every year as the practice changes with new tools and technology.

I’ve also always enjoyed being a mentor or a teacher throughout my career. I was a teaching assistant while getting my MBA and have informally mentored dozens of people in the last decade. Teaching is the only other job that I’ve found as enjoyable and rewarding as being a product manager.

COVID hit a time when I was already pausing to consider what I wanted to do next after a long run at one company. It gave me the “opportunity” to explore independent consulting and to focus on what I really enjoyed about working in product, which eventually led me to creating my own content. Putting myself out there still feels unnatural to a Xennial.

Building this site lets me do my two favorite jobs at once and help others in the process. Completely unrelated, it gives me an outlet for years of landscape photography that is sitting in storage. I hope you find the content here to be useful and enjoyable.

30 Second CV

I’ve been around product development and technology my entire career and product management for the majority. I’ve worked in aerospace, telecommunications, and “tech.” My formative product years were at Carbonite, where I started as the junior member on the product team and left nine years later as VP of Product for a $200M+ SaaS Data Protection and Cyber Security business. It was an amazing experience that exposed me to many facets of product management, M&A, sales channels, customer segments, and business models. Along the way I was lucky to lead an amazing global product team with members in the US, Canada, and Europe, and benefit from the learning of interviewing hundreds of candidates. In addition to Product Leaders, I co-own a product consulting business with my wife.
